JOURNEYS EXHIBITION
This work represents a unique view of cities across the world. The inspiration comes from six years of Tim Baynes' far-flung business travels, Moleskine notebook always in hand.He was for a way to increase the scale and impact of his travel pieces, Tim has turned to mono printing. As the name suggests, a press, ink plates and printing plates are used in a process that is one off. This technique creates unique pieces, which he describes as 'painting without a brush.'
In each piece, Tim has pulled all available levers (colour, tone, the paper materials and use of white space) to create work that is vigorous and energetic. The colour palette in particular conveys what is unique about each of the 18 destinations featured in the show.
